What’s new?

We have updated our licensing model and the way it assigns devices to the available seats. This means that you no longer have to worry about exceeding the seat limit. For your convenience we have simplified things and you can now count on a solid seat allocation model where each device is assigned to a unique seat within your license plan.

This method allows an easier management of your devices and provides a clear view on the seat availability. Thanks to this method we will also notify you if there are too many devices used compared to the available seats.
If you find yourself with more devices than seats, there are two alternatives that you can choose from: free up a seat or upgrade your license.

Free up seats by removing unused devices.

  1. Sign into http://my.emsisoft.com , choose your Workspace and find the device that is no longer in use. You can use the column: ‘Last Updated’ to easily spot the unused devices.
  2. On the right side of the device listed, click on the icon with the three vertical dots and choose: ‘Remove protection’. Note that it might be shown as: ‘Clear seat’ instead.

For larger MSPs or resellers, we recommend using the: ‘Bulk action’ if necessary.

  1. In the Workspace page, click: ‘All devices’, sort by: ‘Last update’ column, click the menu: ‘Bulk action’, select ‘Bulk action’: ‘Remove protection’.
  2. Select the devices with the oldest update, and click the button: ‘Apply’. This will remove all old devices from all Workspaces at the same time.

Upgrade your license to protect more devices.

  1. At your MyEmsisoft portal on https://my.emsisoft.com , click on your Workspace and then on ‘Settings’. From there you can choose the new total amount of seats for the plan of your choice.
  2. You can then click on: ‘Upgrade now’ to be forwarded to a shopping cart and access it’s final price.

If your Workspace has no available seats, Emsisoft will display a clear and informative error message, guiding you on the next steps to take. This ensures that you are always in the loop and can take the necessary actions to manage your licenses effectively.

When your license is about to expire and you do not have the auto-renewal active, you can renew manually through your Management Console on my.emsisoft.com

After your log-in, select the workspace you want to renew and then click on “settings”. You will see the “Renew Now” button under the Workspace settings where it is possible to view and make adjustments to the number of seats and its duration.

By clicking on “Renew Now” you will then be forwarded to a shopping cart where you can review and finalize your purchase.

If you were provided with a license key you can also use the Emsisoft renewal page to check your renewal options available, or contact our support team for further assistance.

Once you purchase or renew an Emsisoft yearly subscription, your protection is set to be automatically renewed, as explained during the purchasing process.

Auto-renewals can be canceled on your Management Console on https://my.emsisoft.com/

Access with your credentials, click on the name of your workspace and then on “Settings”.

From there you will find the option to cancel the auto-renewal and stop the auto-billing for the current subscription cycle.

Cancel auto-renewal

Alternatively, you can send an email to our support at any time during the paid license year and ask to turn off the auto-renewal in your behalf.

Please note that cancelling the auto-renewal will leave your protection active until its expiry date.
If you decide to continue your protection after that date you should renew manually or purchase a new subscription.

Emsisoft does not store your payment information. For any assistance related to billing, you can contact our payment processor partners 2Checkout / Verifone or Cleverbridge, although you can easily update your subscription information with them through your Management Console.

Log in to your MyEmsisoft account and navigate to your Workspace Settings page at the left side menu. Scroll down to the license section, click on “update payment info” and follow checkout instructions to completion.

If you still have difficulties with the payment information you can contact our payment processor partners via email, by checking your previous order confirmation messages in your mailbox and reaching out to their support area.

When you need to protect more devices than your license allows, you can upgrade your current subscription through your Management Console at MyEmsisoft portal on https://my.emsisoft.com , click on your workspace and then on “settings”.

From there you can choose the new total amount of seats or the new plan.
You can then click on “renew now / upgrade now” to be forwarded to a shopping cart. The next page will pro-rate the unused time of your subscription and reduce its final cost before you pay.

Your 1, 2 or 3 years subscription will start from the moment the payment is made, which will become your new billing and renewal date.

Please note that If you are deployed with an alternative RMM such as Atera, Kabuto or Syncro, it’s advised to contact your distributor for further assistance.

To take advantage of the centralized protection management features included in all Emsisoft products, you need to migrate your license to a workspace. A workspace defines your home or organization environment and acts as a container to monitor and configure all your devices.

Please follow these easy steps to get started with a new workspace:

1. Name your new workspace

Start by logging in at MyEmsisoft. If you don’t already have a workspace, it will ask you to name it right away, then to choose the amount of devices, which version of Emsisoft and the Security Management (we suggest Local &Remote). Alternatively, click the ‘Create workspace’ button at the ‘Workspaces’ dashboard. It will ask the same sequence of questions/settings.

2. Install and connect your protected devices

Click ‘Download’, even if you already have the protection installed on your computer. The installer is very small and will connect your device with your newly created workspace.

 

The installer doesn’t require any user interaction. Setting up the connection may take about 30 seconds.

 

Once completed, you will see the following notification on your protected device:

 

3. Import your personal license or apply a license key

If your currently used license is assigned to your personal user account, you will see the ‘Re-assign a license’ panel on top.

 

Click on Re-assign

 

Then this will show:

 

Alternatively you can always use the ‘Apply license key’ option to add any unassigned license.

 

Migration complete!

You’re all set and your protected devices can now be centrally managed via MyEmsisoft.

Preface

We’ve moved away from using license keys directly except in a few specific situations, such as purchasing a license directly from one of our resellers. Instead, use you license’s tagged installer, downloadable by logging into MyEmsisoft and clicking either ‘add device’ or ‘install protection’, whichever button presents itself in the top right portion of the page. For most customers including most everyone who purchased directly from our website, the following information will not be of use.

For those few situations that do still use a license key directly, please continue:

If any of these processes do not work as expected, contact us at support@emsisoft.com. Please provide details on which step you tried that did not work. If you saw an error message, please include it in your email verbatim.

The more details you can provide, the easier and quicker it is for us to help. Your license looks similar to “ABC-DEF-GHI-123”, and the dashes are important. Capitalization is not important.

Emsisoft Anti-Malware

First, open Emsisoft Anti-Malware (howto). The easiest way to do this is to click on the Emsisoft icon in the notification tray, which is the small group of icons located near the clock in the corner of your taskbar.

Next, you need to be logged into Windows as a local administrator in order to associate your license key with Emsisoft Anti-Malware. If you’re not sure whether you’re logged in as a local administrator or not, you can still try the instructions below. If they don’t work and the buttons mentioned are not visible, you’ll need to log into another account on your computer that does have administrative permissions to continue.

There are two ways to associate your license key with Emsisoft Anti-Malware.

Option 1:

  1. Click the “Details” link in the lower right corner of the Emsisoft Anti-Malware main screen.

  2. Click the “Manage license” button if available, otherwise “Connect with MyEmsisoft”.
  3. Type in your MyEmsisoft login email address and password

Option 2:

  1. Open your MyEmsisoft account webpage.
  2. Click, depending on whether your license is associated with a workspace or not, the ‘Add Device’ button or the ‘Install Protection’ button, located in the upper right part of the page.
  3. Download the main file that is offered, and run it on the computer you want protected. It will either activate Emsisoft Anti-Malware with that license, or it will install Emsisoft Anti-Malware and activate it with your license for you.

After completing either option, return to the Overview screen by clicking the house icon in the upper left. Next, click the “Update now” link to synchronize your computer with our server. After it has synchronized correctly, you’ll be able to see the number of days left in the license section. Alternatively, “active subscription” will be displayed if the license is associated with a subscription.

Emsisoft Anti-Malware should now be activated and ready to protect your machine in real time. Contact support@emsisoft.com with a detailed description including error and other messages you see if you encounter any trouble.

Emsisoft Emergency Kit Pro

  1. Open Emsisoft Emergency Kit using the GUI (Graphical User Interface, windowed) version of the software. The correct file to run is “Start Emergency Kit Scanner.exe”. The “.exe” part might not be visible depending on how Windows is configured.
  2. If you use a proxy to connect to the Internet, configure the proxy by clicking the Settings link on the Emsisoft Emergency Kit overview page, then click the “Proxy settings” button. Go back to the Overview by clicking Overview in the top row. If you don’t use a proxy, go straight to step 3.
  3. Click on the “License” link, which is just below the Update tile. It probably says “License: Freeware” at first.
  4. In the window that appears, click on “Enter a Pro license key, for business use”.
  5. In the box that appears, insert your license and click the “Next” button.
  6. Please update the software if you haven’t already, using the “Update” tile on the main page.

Emsisoft Emergency Kit Pro license is now activated and ready to be used.

Emsisoft Mobile Security

There are two ways to insert a license key for Emsisoft Mobile Security.

Option 1:

  1. Visit the online portal at https://central.emsisoft.com/.
  2. Login with the Google email address you’re using for Emsisoft Mobile Security.
  3. Click “My Subscriptions” from the menu on the left.
  4. Use the blue button “ACTIVATION CODE” in the top right to add your license to your account.

To migrate an Emsisoft Anti-Malware license seat to a different computer, follow the steps below:

1. Remove the program from the old computer through Windows Start > All Programs > Emsisoft Anti-Malware and use the Uninstall option, or use the standard Windows “Uninstall a Program” or “Apps” list depending on the Windows version used. If the computer is no longer working you can disregard the uninstallation.

2. Sign into http://my.emsisoft.com find the old computer in the Workspace or personal license list as applicable. On the right side of the machine’s entry, click on the icon with the three vertical dots and choose “remove protection”. Note that it might be shown as “Clear seat” instead.

3. Download the latest version of our software to the new computer directly by logging into your MyEmsisoft account, then clicking the “Download and install protection” button on the upper-right side of the page to download the installer. Do not rename the file that is downloaded, because the long name is required for activation to work properly.

4. Run the downloaded installer, and it should take care of installing and/or activating with your subscription for you. If you already have Emsisoft Anti-Malware installed, the installer will not appear to do anything when you run it, but it will activate Emsisoft Anti-Malware with your subscription.

5. Open Emsisoft Anti-Malware, or wait for it to open if this is a new installation, and click on “Update Now” in the lower right to update and synchronize with your subscription.

Note: If you have any other active antivirus on the computer, we recommend uninstalling that software and restarting the computer prior to installing Emsisoft Anti-Malware.
