I have done that while installing programs and it {pup} was still installed. The worst is Ask.com, it is on a lot of free programs,

It does work, though it’s still officially in beta/preview stage. Chances are, when the smoke clears, this app won’t remain Free.

Of course one’s best line of defense is to keep up with this blog, one can subscribe by email & never miss one, follow the plain to understand advice offered. And to at lease give Emsisoft Anti Malware or the Internet Security pack a 30 day Free Trial just to see how powerful it is! I’m not an Emsisoft rep posing as participant, am running both EAM & Online Armor, the Firewall is included with the Emsisoft Internet Security pack.

However, even with this protection, one should still use common sense, as no security offering is 100% bullet proof, though Emsisoft is as close as it gets. And uses a fraction of the resources that the ‘big names’ uses. PUP’s are not just spyware loaded, some watching one’s every move & phoning home, they’re robbing consumers of the performance we’re paying for while doing so. Does your computer not seem as fast as it did a year ago when purchasing it? If not, then it may be loaded with PUP’s.

To deal with this for 30 days at no cost & see first hand:
1) Download & install the Emsisoft Emergency Kit & let it clean the computer up.
2) Install one of the 30 day, no obligation Emsisoft products & see protection in real time!

PUP’s are a big deal, and for pennies per day, Emsisoft can purge many & keep them off.

Yet I haven’t read a word about potential risks from pay-software, as if the mere paying for a program made its vendor miraculously honest. Do you really expect me to believe that?

Yes, I know, last time the message was that Emsisoft looks at itself as primary an Anti-PUP program now but that, to me, is a side issue. Over-inflating the threat of PUPs isn’t something I care for.

Sure, some of what you write about is new and useful, but a lot of it is a repeat of previous messages. I’d rather see other things like some of the articles this time, or:

“4) From the PUP itself: PUPs also distribute through
ads and pop-ups on certain websites. These are often temporarily created
pages with warnings as “software XYZ needs an update”. This method is
left out in this article, since we’re only focusing on PUPs you can get
from downloading a program.”

How to choose between good and bad add-ons, or even which add-ons/plug-ins/extensions should be avoided as PUPs or malware.

Or how about what I just experienced – where hackers somehow got into my Gmail account and were using it from Yogyakarta, Jakarta, India and 2 locations in the USA, and it was only because of the alert at the bottom of the Gmail inbox that I became aware that someone else was logging in! I still haven’t figured out how they got in, or what they were doing, but I’ve changed my password and doubled the security via Gmail options.

Or how about simple tips for the vast majority of users that will teach them how to use the Internet much more safely because, let’s face it, anti-malware software can only do so much to protect a computer from a user that is ignorant of safe browsing.
Or tips for optimizing the settings of an anti-malware program to improve the chances of it catching infections?

Or why it is that, despite add-ins in Chrome, tracking cookies are still being saved on my computer (I find out when I run SAS).

I use Bitdefender Free (I don’t care for the minimalist user interface and control, but I’m kinda turned off with Avast!, and I don’t like AVG or Avira). I have MBAM Anti-Exploit free protecting Google Chrome, but it doesn’t protect my preferred browser – Pale Moon. I have MBAM and SAS, but since they’re free, I don’t use them often. I also run WinPatrol all the time. And right now I’ve downloaded your Emergency Kit.

There are lots of other tips that could be shared without the constant drumbeat of PUP-PUP-PUP. Please! :)
