Comments on: Fabiansomware: when hackers lose it https://www.emsisoft.com/en/blog/23753/fabiansomware-when-hackers-lose-it/ Straight-talking security advice from the Malware Experts Fri, 18 Nov 2022 12:22:18 +0000 hourly 1 By: rick45 https://www.emsisoft.com/en/blog/23753/fabiansomware-when-hackers-lose-it/#comment-789330 Sun, 01 Oct 2017 06:38:00 +0000 http://blog.emsisoft.com/?p=23753#comment-789330 I got my PC locked up on Tuesday 26-09-2017 by someone supposedly from Microsoft saying they had locked up my machine to protect their system from further damage, and at the bottom of this page was an English 0800 phone number I had to ring to get my PC unlocked and have my bank card ready, I had switched off my PC and switched it back on again but it was still locked up solid, so I rang this number and a guy answered it I said my phone is locked up and need him to unlock it, the guy at the other end of the line said it is no use asking me pal I am a plumber, he said it’s a scam and don’t pay, I was not going to anyway, but what a plonker putting the wrong phone number in, I was going to give him the biggest bollocking of his life if he HAD answered the phone, but I fixed mine myself by uninstalling these spybot advanced systemcare cleaners I had on my PC restarted it and switched it off again then plugged in my usb windows 10 installation, ran that and I had removed it from my PC all is well again,
By the way, I have installed the bought version of Avast Internet Security, updated every day, but it did not stop this ransomware getting past their so called protection, so shall be looking for better protection next year.

Yes, when they could have a laid back job instead.;-)

However, many of these are in it for the thrill, just like online gaming, only this goes beyond virtual reality.

These same folks could be on the good side of the table in rooting out criminals, there are many corporations willing to pay for their talents. That is, as long as the corporation feels confident that the person won’t turn on them if disciplined or terminated, it is a risk to take on some of these type of minds.

Some corporations offers open competition to see if their software can be cracked & how fast, with the winner scoring a nice jackpot.

Yet there will always be bad elements in our society, no matter what type of good opportunity lands their way, unfortunately many lives by their law only.
